Live Smart After 50!

The Experts’ Guide to Life Planning for Uncertain Times

If you are looking for a book that provides tools & resources, thought provoking ideas for what to do with your time and energy after 50, and a wealth of knowledge for working with people transitioning to “life after full time employment” …. then this is the book for you.  I highly recommend this book for any coach, advisor, counselor, or practitioner who works with this population.

Chapters include how to help people look at their passions, interests, and how they determine where they want to spend their time and energy, and also covers financial considerations, legal matters, housing / community, up to and including possible barriers for people.

The contributors truly are the ‘heavy hitters’ in this field from Doug Dickson, Bruce Frankel, Andrea Gallagher, Meg Newhouse, Elizabeth Craig, and Mary Radu, and many more.

As I was working on developing another online seminar focused on this topic, I discovered this book which was only recently published.   As I reviewed the chapters in the book I realized they aligned with my thinking, in chapters such as “Relationship Dividend”,  “Good Work”, “Well Being For Life”, “Awaken Your Creativity”, and more.  After a few chapters I realized THIS was the book for my OL seminar coming out this January!

One thing I like is you do not have to read this book in order.  As a matter of fact, they provide a checklist at the beginning to guide you to the most important chapters for the individual reading it.  Very practical.

This book is published by the Life Planning Network with contributions from a number of LPN member experts in the field.  There is so much to like about this book, not the least of which are the links to so many resources including assessments, charts, websites, articles and more.

Note:  As a “boomer” myself, I found it very helpful as I look at my where I want to spend my time and energy with family and friends, community service, education, and general introspection.
