How To Successfully Build Your LinkedIn Network and Beyond

How To Successfully Build Your LinkedIn Network and Beyond:
And Why It’s Important

WEBINAR recorded Friday, September 20, 2019

Presenter: Bob McIntosh

When you hear, “Connect with people you don’t know on LinkedIn,” do you feel slightly uneasy? Do you wonder why you should connect with complete strangers? Of do you outright refuse to do it? As someone who has connected with LinkedIn users unknown to me, I get it. I used to feel uncomfortable asking people to join my network. Further, I wondered why anyone outside my circle of colleagues and friends would want to connect with me.

Then it occurred to me that the purpose of LinkedIn is to build a network of like-minded people, regardless if I know them. I also realized that opportunities wouldn’t present themselves if I stayed within my comfort zone. Well, opportunities have presented themselves. Now I’m among the well-known LinkedIn trainers out there. But it hasn’t come without work. To be successful on LinkedIn, one must go BEYOND.

Bob McIntosh, CPRW, is a career trainer who leads more than 17 job search workshops at MassHire Lowell Career Center, Lowell, MA. Unsatisfied with only conducting workshops, Bob asked to take on additional responsibilities of meeting with high-level job seekers on an individual basis. He critiques their résumés and LinkedIn profiles, as well as conduct mock interviews and provides salary negotiating advice.

Bob is no stranger to conducting webinars. In February of 2017, he and his colleague began delivering job-search advice to clients in the comfort of their own homes. Bob and his colleague earned the Ingenuity Award from MassHire.

Bob has gained a reputation as a LinkedIn authority in the community. He offers LinkedIn profile and strategy services to private clients.

One of Bob’s greatest accomplishments is creating the first LinkedIn program at MassHire Career Center (then Career Center of Lowell) and developing workshops to support the program. Job seekers from across the state attend his LinkedIn workshops.

Bob’s greatest pleasure is helping people find rewarding careers in a competitive job market. For enjoyment, he blogs at Things Career Related. Follow Bob on LinkedIn.
